The Vampire Diaries goes Musical??

Watch me sing and suck (blood)
Now that musical is all the rage, Ian Somerhalder from The Vampire Diaries wants to get in on the action too. The smouldering actor has expressed interest that he would love to do a musical episode of The Vampire Diaries .

"I would do a musical episode in a heartbeat!" Ian said, adding that some of the cast members are quite the triple threat. "Zach Roerig [aka Matt] is a tap dancer. Who would've thought?"
So, if The Vampire Diaries does a musical episode, what would Ian's character Damon sing?
"I don't know… Damon would be more like the barber of Fleet Street [a la Sweeney Todd]. He would be the guy who sings as he cuts people's arms off. Full, Johnny Depp style," he revealed in an interview.
A musical episode of The Vampire Diaries? Sounds like a great idea to me!

The truth of titanic....

The Titanic hit an iceberg in 1912 because of a basic steering error, and only sank as fast as it did because an official persuaded the captain to continue sailing, an author said in an interview published on Wednesday.
Louise Patten, a writer and granddaughter of Titanic second officer Charles Lightoller, said the truth about what happened nearly 100 years ago had been hidden for fear of tarnishing the reputation of her grandfather, who later became a war hero.
Lightoller, the most senior officer to have survived the disaster, covered up the error in two inquiries on both sides of the Atlantic because he was worried it would bankrupt the ill-fated liner's owners and put his colleagues out of a job.
"They could easily have avoided the iceberg if it wasn't for the blunder," Patten told the Daily Telegraph.

"Instead of steering Titanic safely round to the left of the iceberg, once it had been spotted dead ahead, the steersman, Robert Hitchins, had panicked and turned it the wrong way."
Patten, who made the revelations to coincide with the publication of her new novel "Good as Gold" into which her account of events are woven, said that the conversion from sail ships to steam meant there were two different steering systems.
Crucially, one system meant turning the wheel one way and the other in completely the opposite direction.
Once the mistake had been made, Patten added, "they only had four minutes to change course and by the time (first officer William) Murdoch spotted Hitchins' mistake and then tried to rectify it, it was too late."
Patten's grandfather was not on watch at the time of the collision, but he was present at a final meeting of the ship's officers before the Titanic went down.
There he heard not only about the fatal mistake but also the fact that J. Bruce Ismay, chairman of Titanic's owner the White Star Line persuaded the captain to continue sailing, sinking the ship hours faster than would otherwise have happened.
"If Titanic had stood still, she would have survived at least until the rescue ship came and no one need have died," Patten said.
The RMS Titanic was the world's biggest passenger liner when it left Southampton, England, for New York on its maiden voyage on April 10, 1912. Four days into the trip, the ship hit an iceberg and sank, taking more than 1,500 passengers with it.

kuroshitsuji 2 -the end-

I just watched the end of Kuroshitsuji II last night. Even though it was a short one but I'm satisfied. FYI Kuroshitsuji (the black butler) is about Sebastian Michaelis, a demonic butler who is bound by a supernatural contract to serve Ciel Phantomhive, the twelve-year-old head of the Phantomhive noble family, and in return Sebastian will obtain Ciel's soul when Ciel has finished all of his tasks including getting revenge on the people who killed his parents; after that Sebastian is then allowed to kill him and take his soul.

The second series, Kuroshitsuji II, premiered in July this year.  Two new characters were introduced ; a demon butler, Claude Faustus and his master, Alois Trancy. The story is based on the last episode of the first season, at the time where Sebastian want to take Ciel's soul, Claude was there and stole the soul from Sebastian. Sebastian search for his master and in his search he learned about Alois Trancy's wish to get revenge on him, the demon who killed his brother, Luka. Even though Claude was Alois demon butler, Claude has interest to take Ciel's soul rather than Alois himself. Alois become jealous towards Ciel and he make a contract with another demon, Hannah which was revealed that she was the one who make a contract with his brother and take his soul.

Alois wishes for a battle between Sebastian and Claude to get Ciel's soul. However, both of them didn't know that neither of them will get the soul. Claude was killed and Ciel was reborn as a demon.

I felt pity to Sebastian, not only he had to search back the soul but in the end he stuck as Ciel's demon butler forever...

Whaling debate to hit cinemas

Pity whale...whale hunt has become actively carry out around the world. Rather than taking to the seas in a protest flotilla, an Australian filmmaker is filming a "walk a mile in my shoes" style documentary as he hopes to help both sides of the bitter whaling debate to understand each other.
The feature-length documentary will see Wright live with a whaling family and join a whale hunt off the coast of Japan, while the whalers will join him in the Cook Islands and swim with humpback whales.
The swap is the final challenge in a set of dares exchanged between Wright and Japanese filmmaker Hideki Fuji, who, like most Japanese, sees nothing wrong with the country's annual harvest of hundreds of whales.
Wright, the grandson of pioneering African-American author Richard Wright, is an accidental whale conservationist who began the project after a vivid dream in 2006 that involved him swimming with a school of humpback whales after hitting one in a boat.
"This dream was immediately very difficult to shake," Wright told The Weekend Australian.
"I had to do something, and as a filmmaker the only thing I can bring to it is to make a film."
Wright believes the protests that spark angry clashes with the Japanese whaling fleet each summer won't stop the whaling because Japan's government and whaling industry will simply dig their heels in.
"The key to the film is reconciliation and the way we see reconciliation is walking a mile in each other's shoes," he said.
"My standpoint is we have to now shift from a moratorium on sustainability grounds to a moratorium on ethical grounds and at least have an international exchange on the issue and come to a conclusion of some sort."
Fuji thinks whale consumption is declining in Japan and whaling's cultural heritage is overstated, but he tells Wright -- both in the film and real life -- that it's no different to the harvesting of other animals for human consumption.
"To make it personal," Wright said. "Hideki says: 'All right, let's try to get you spend some time with some Japanese whalers and get on their boat and witness a kill'."
How the whalers react to their underwater encounter with their quarry towards the end of the documentary -- which Wright is aiming at a cinematic release -- will be entirely unscripted.
The filmmaker -- who has previously worked for Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson -- has posted a trailer of Whale Like Me online, and filming on the full-length feature is expected to begin next month. Wright has assembled most of the shooting budget and is hoping to secure funding partners and donations in order to complete the film.

my comment : is good to show the world a different way to help people understand the extinction of the whales...pity them...as the demand of whale increase they were hunt and now the population of whales has declined. i love whales and the first film i watched about them was "Free Willy" i guess...i don't remember the title but i'm glad that there are people who concerned about this species...whale is such a wonderful creature~_~

vampire diaries : get ready for katherine

I've watched the first season and was surprised where at the end Katherine show up!
She was the vampire that Damon search for until now. Damon thought that Katherine was trapped with the other vampires in the tomb but she was not. She lived happily with her own life. Poor Damon, at first I thought he was evil, well he was, he always do bad things like feed on human kills them not like his brother Stefan. I think most of the people who watch vampire diaries will prefer Stefean Salvatore, his not only handsome ( from the eyes of Elena) but he seem more mature and kind....however, i prefer Damon better~_~
he have the kind of mystery around him, likes to keep secret, like to do things by his own, cruel i admit it but deep in his heart i know there's good in him, annoying a lot but i still like him~_~

i think i've went off too far.....what i'm going to talk here is about Katherine..
we all know about Katherine through the stories they told about the past, about how she play off the salvatore's brother, Damon and Stefan, how she change them and how the villagers captured all the vampires and left them in a tomb, set fires on it. Katherine manage to escaped that (I was not surprised when Anna told Katherine alives) what i can't imagine is her true power....is she have any connection with Elena....why do both of them look alike??? are they related with blood?? if so, is Elena a vampire to??? too many question but i don't like to read to know about it....I want to watch the next season of vampire diaries...hopw it air in malaysia soon~_~

australian news : Former church bus driver accused of molesting youth group members

A former church bus driver, 69-year old man was arrested this morning at his Bilpin home near Windsor, northwest of Sydney, after four of his alleged victims went to police. The two men and two women told police the man sexually assaulted and molested them over three decades from the 1970s while he was a bus driver with the Metropolitan Baptist Church in Chatswood and Lane Cove, in Sydney's north. North Shore local area crime manager Detective Inspector Peter Yeomans said the alleged assaults occurred between 1978 and 1992 and there was nothing to suggest the church was aware of the man's alleged activities. The man allegedly took children from the youth group on frequent bus trips to beaches, public swimming pools and cinemas. Some of the alleged abuse occurred at the man's then Lane Cove home and at the church's Chatswood location. Det Insp Yeomans said Strike Force Dyer detectives charged the man with 54 historical offences, including charges of sexual assault, acts of indecency and indecent assault. He appealed for any other alleged victims to come forward. The man was released on conditional bail and will appear at Windsor Local Court on August 18.

what a horrible week~_~

Hi!
I don't know since when I've stop blogging...
I don't really know how to manage my time well...
Whatever...let me tell you what had happened last week....

I was sick~_~
so so sick...

it started on thursday, the day when the fogging was carried out in INTI. It was a thick fog and I was so interested to see inside the building
wow! I can't see a thing~ two of my friends were up stairs cooking for us. we were supposed to break our fast at that time, so we quickly close our nose and mouth and enter the building, the thick fog continued until the first floor but I stop there to by breath. I'm not good in holding my breath for too long. moreover i didn't ready to save my breath before enter...huhu~_~

so i exhale 'some' of the fog and it cause me sour throat(first sign of my sickness).
my sour throat continues until saturday, and on sunday morning i have flu...

i took some panadol soluble but nothings change...instead i end  up having a fever....

than, i took panadol, drink a llot of water and sleep, but the fever didn't go away...
at least the flu does...

however on friday, i was caught by a cough...and my fever is still there ans so goes to my flu...
i think i can't stand the weather now.....
it so hot outside but it so cold inside the rooms...
no wonder i get sick easily...

until now i still have flu and cough but my fever has gone~_~
hope to get well soon

Campaign fails to slow squashing of Christmas Island crabs

my summary :

The number of Christmas Island crabs has now decline as they are squash away by cars. This crab is well known for its capability in tree-climbing, coconut-eating robber crab and also as the king of the jungle in a tiny Australian territory. Sadly to hear that about 500 of them were turn out to be killed on the roads between January and June this year. A campaign was carried out to urge the Christmas Island workers to drive carefully around the world's largest land crabs in order to preserve this species. However, the campaign does not gone out well. The map below reveals the main killing zone on the road to the island's Immigration Detention Centre.

Some locals claim said that the workers from the mainland do not care about the extinction of this species. This has become a concern to the Parks Australia as the numbers of deaths keep on increasing. Parks Australia, a federal government department responsible for the national park covering 63% of Christmas Island. They are now trying their best to reduce the toll on robber crabs by targeting people that are new to the island with signs to urge them to drive around the crab, not over them! The reason is because the giant crabs will use their pincers when threatened and this will cause undercarriage to the car that shears them off, causing physical injury. A spokeswoman from Parks Australia said it that the cause of increasing in the death of the crabs was not hard to recognize. It may be seasonal, related to wet weather or increased in traffic. Christmas Island National Park will continue to carry out their campaign to alert the community, to increase their mortality, advising them to drive slowly and drive around the robber crabs.

another week of excitement!!!

hi there!

this is the second part of my holiday chapter...

a week before going back to inti, i was assigned by my mother to decide on things to buy as present for some activities held by her school. she said that a team that participated in the activities were about 10 people and therefore 10 item for each winner places. my mother and i started to plan the things to buy and how many of them...
then we went for a survey to some places in kuantan to search for the item...
it's hard to choose a perfect item for a present...
but finally after three days we manage to decide and bought many present...
my brother's room that had just emptied (since he had gone to uitm) had been fulled with presents~
we bought flushy toys like bears and pillow, tupperwares, bottles, towels, mugs, files, bags, stationeries, etc.

talk about the files~_~
it was only a plastic file, we bought them from the Maidin store by bulk...
it stated that 1 file was for rm2.50, my mom said that we need about 60files so i counted and then i said 'mom, why not we buy 80 of them?? it only cost rm152 rather than buying 60 = rm150....as my mom agrees i told to the sales assitant to bring 80 of the files down to the counter and she said not worry there are in the box downstairs...so we went down to the bulk counter to pay for them. i saw a man was bringing down 2 big box of the files, i told my mom 'can it fit the car???' we only smiled to each other...
my mom hand over the money to me and when i was paying for the files, the cashier check the cash machine, it shows 1 box...she was surprised and asked the one who bring the box down to check how many of the files in one box, in a glance he said the two box is a total of 80 in it....i don't like to wait so i just ask him to bring the box to the car.....
several days later, for precisely 3 days i think...
when i was wraping up the files, i found out that i didn't open the other box yet but i had finish with all the quantity of present that i wanted....so i think back and count the box....surprisingly we had 160 files!!!
so i told my mom, panicking, 'mom we stole some files...haha~_~', my mom didn't understand at first, so i explained to her slowly and clearly...thank god my father was around so he help us to send back the box to the Maidin store......that was funny, didn't the one who bring the box down count the quantity before giving it to us???? didn't the machine detector rings when the box pass through it as the cash machine only detects 1 box???

haha~_~ i don't know what really happen but my mom said that this maybe a lesson to us...maybe God was testing either we are honest or not....either we sent back the box or not....

end of chapter two....

additional info :
1. jomheboh at kuantan pahang!!!! the truth is....i never went there once in my life and was planning to go for
the first time and maybe the last~_~

2. report card day is coming!!! i'm going to be a parent meeting the teacher of my brother's classes, well
there are two of them, one in standard 6 and another is in standard one...

summary of my holiday...

jpa had bank in the money earlier than i thought...
so i draw out about rm500 and use all up during the holidays...

the first thing i remembered was i use it to treat my brother's....
i really miss them...well miss having fun with them...i usually get mad with them at house but when it comes to holiday i have a good mood of treating my brothers...

i treat for new cloth, cheap handphone~_~, dine in to restaurants that i never when before....

to tell you the truth i never ate at kenny's rogers roasters...
well mas had invite me before but the planned don't go well so we end up having mcd instead...

i ordered the meal for 5 person, at first i thought the price was only below rm10...
for my surprise i've paid for rm108 that day just for a lunch....i think its ok for a first and the last time of eating there ;p

next restaurant was sushi king~_~
i once ate sushi with wasabi but it was 1000000000miles back  ~_~
i forgot how the taste was like...
so, i act like i know everything and start order two sets of lunch meal...
i also took some sushi's from the 'moving plate' section...haha~_~
the price was not that bad...i ate there for only 3 person and paid for rm61

i also bought some new cloths for my brothers...except for asri cause he was so busy with my dad preparing his things before going to uitm...
i love to shop at jusco and parkson....especially when there's discount available...~_~

other than that....
we went for bowling, token games and movies....
haha~_~
it's fun to have them around,
eventhough i like to make fun of them by shouting their name out load in front of their friends or scolding them~_~i'll precious them more than ever...
when we are apart.....the feeling of care and love arise...haha~_~
but it's hard to understand the feeling of love as i never fall in love before...hm correction i think i did but i never say it...haha~_~

don't forget about the handphone, eventhough it was cheap at least he will msg me when i want him to....haha
easy to connect with them...

lastly, i use the money for my baju kurung for raya....actually i've should have taken the baju kurung the mak cik that sew for me early june but i was so busy and have no time to go back that month~_~
and when i look back at the baju kurung, i realize that i've pick a very 'unique' colour that i never had before...haha~_~
wait after the raya...i'll bring and show it to you...

i also use some of my money to buy some groceries as i was going to cook during my weeks of holiday...
i was glad that i still have the touch on the pan....my mom also praise me for my dish lemak cili api...

additional info :
i also learn new things 1. i've just mastered the new bleach, naruto and katekyo hitman reborn ps2 games
                                  2. i've made a lot of puding and custards....the sweet things~_~
                                  3. i've learn how hard it is to make decision for others...haha~_~this story will be on
the next episode of my blog.....

got to go bye~_~

don't let it to be the end...

what had happened before is the past...
don't let it drag you to the present...
what you can do is in the present...
to change yourself for a better future...

when my heart hurt so much...
i'll go to the toilet for shower...
and cry in the 'rain'...
it feels good as i can't feel the 'hot' tears falling down....
i feel like i've melt away under the shower...

when i'm feeling down...
i usually hid in my room and cry...
but since i left the house and start to live in hostels...
i cry in the bathroom (that's was i'm homesick~_~)

i hate to show my face when i'm crying...
but the reason maybe because of my ego...
i always thought that crying is a weakness...
and i don't like to show it to anyone...

i try to be strong and not to cry anymore...
i try to be thankful for what i have....
i try my best to not letting anything stand my way...
i try and i try...
and i will not stop trying...
i'll keep on going...

enough with the crap....
i'll prefer singing than writing my feelings....
a song that cheers me up when i'm feeling down..
like the world is the end...
like the world is feel with darkness...
you naver see where will you go...
but if you have faith in yourself...
a light will shine...
and you'll find out that there still hope...
you will reach out to the light...
and may your bad dreams and cloudy sceneries be gone...~_~

You're not alone, Together we stand
I'll be by your side, you know I'll take your hand
When it gets cold, And it feels like the end
There's no place to go, You know I won't give in
No I won't give in

Keep holding on
'Cause you know we'll make it through, we'll make it through
Just stay strong
'Cause you know I'm here for you, I'm here for you
There's nothing you could say
Nothing you could do
There's no other way when it comes to the truth
So keep holding on
'Cause you know we'll make it through, we'll make it through

So far away
I wish you were here
Before it's too late, this could all disappear
Before the doors close
And it comes to an end
With you by my side I will fight and defend,
I'll fight and defend
Yeah, yeah!

Keep holding on
'Cause you know we'll make it through, we'll make it through
Just stay strong
'Cause you know I'm here for you, I'm here for you

So keep holding on
'Cause you know we'll make it through, we'll make it through

Hear me when I say, when I say I believe
Nothing's gonna change, nothing's gonna change destiny
Whatever's meant to be will work out perfectly
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah!

La da da da

La da da da

La da da da da da da da da

Keep holding on
'Cause you know we'll make it through, we'll make it through
Just stay strong

my two weeks of excitement ~_~has gone down to zero...

Hi there!
It has been two weeks of 'not seeing each other'...
I think I'm in good shape...
Well not after receiving the fact of my last semester result...
horrible than before...
Guess I'm not that serious in learning....
haha...
I don't know what truly happen last semester...
I think that I'm still on search of my true nature of learning...
what I mean is that the way I learn...
maybe the method is wrong...
still can't find an answer...
but I guess I have much motre freedom in INTI...
I can do what ever I want, I just follow what my heart desire most...
Playing, watching movies, and have a good time of sleeping....haha~_~
I can't believe how I've change...
I don't know where my determination to reach a goal has gone to...
I think I don't have the ability to sacrifice things now to get a better in future...
Daydreaming, talking nonsense stuff was what I'm good of...haha~_~
In fact I'm good at making ridiculous story...

I have to go...
last day at house, so some preparation has to be done...
well, I've tidy up my room, it seem so empty...
so goes to my bro, his in uitm right now...
his room also empty...
this house will now have a lot of empty space for other things to stay in...haha
creepy things i guess...
bye~

R.I.P : Winter Sonata Actor Found Dead!

Popular South Korean actor/singer Park Yong-ha was found dead earlier today!

It was Park's mother who found his body at 5.30am on Wednesday. Police reports indicated that Park died with an electrical cord tied around his neck. This is tragic!

Media outlets in South Korea reported that Park repeatedly apologised to his family at around 12.40am before heading to his room.

“While my son massaged the legs and back of his father, who suffers from the late stages of stomach cancer, he said ‘I am sorry. I am sorry,’ to his family before going into his room,” Park’s mother said in a deposition.

No suicide note was found. The 33-year-old Park achieved worldwide fame through the TV drama Winter Sonata

from katy :
Winter Sonata was my first korean drama and never other korean drama can surpass that until I had watched IRIS recently....
Well, I'm not a korean drama lover but I watched when I had watched all my japanese drama that I download...haha
But the truth is that korean drama is much better than japanese...
It really stroke my heart when I watch korean drama...
I think japanese drama only make me laugh more...
However, I don't want to indulge in watching korean drama cause I know that I will get so addicted to it...haha

I lost sight when I was alone in the falling rain

if I'm not noticed, I might still be in the void

let's stretch out this hand, don't look back

I want to be at your side
I want you to let be me at your side
just as it is, If I could live on
I will surely take that hand, and I can fly wherever it is
as long as I'm with you, till faraway land just as it is

each truth are clashing and become chaos
if everyone is shedding the same tears

if I stretch out this hand, we might understand each other

I always want to feel
the warmth which is carved in this hand is yours, something that I found with you
each of unchanged matters started to change differently
just as it is, I will receive all

someday, we won't be seeing each other, even if I let go this hand
I won't forget, because I'm not forgetting I can fly wherever it is

I am thinking of you
always, I am at your side
just as it is, if I can live on
now I want to be at your side
I want you to let be me at your side
just as it is, because I can live on

Final Draft : Arguementative Essays : Effects of Television Viewing

Everyone in the world is familiar with television as more than 90 percent of the people especially from the developed countries have at least one of them at home (Sharif 1999). It is said to be the most popular form of entertainment compared to radio as television provides visual images that manage to fascinate the audience, both young and old (Leigh 2001). Through television it is possible for us to know so many things without leaving the comfort of our homes. According to American Time Use Survey (2003), people, mostly men, spent most of their time watching television. This shows how human beings cannot be separated from technology like television that improves their material standard of living, yet this kind of technology has caused a lot of problems in our world today. Watching television can create addiction that leads to extensive viewing. This has been an issue for quite a long time as it brings bad effects mainly to our future generation such as affecting the children's thinking process, creating bad behaviour in the children and worsening the health problem.

Extensive viewing of television can affect the development of the children’s thinking process (Sharif 1999). It is said to be a passive activity as most people are not using their brains to work. Moreover, they describe television as a kind of an entertainment rather than information as television shows nowadays are full with drama series and games. The same goes to children where there are plenty of cartoon shows that are played on the television. This will eventually affect the capability of the children to develop their own imagination, situations and make-believe worlds which are an important skill for problem solving and organisational ability (Leigh 2001). On the other hand, television allows children to think that all problems can be solved easily but when they come across with a real life situation, things are not the same as they see and at the end they become frustrated and give up easily in life (Sharif 1999). Most importantly it is difficult for the children to focus on things like homework or exercise when the television is on (Leigh 2001). “Dr. Geraldine Jones, an educational psychologist, is convinced that children who are heavy viewers are among the lowest achievers at school” (Leigh 2001, pp. 24-25). This proves that watching television for a long period does affect the children school performances.

Subsequently, as television is a format of visual image, it can create bad behaviour of the children as they can easily imitate or follow what the television taught them. They always think that everything that comes out from the television is a good example to resemble. “There have been instances where children have put on Superman costumes and injured themselves seriously by jumping out of trees” (Sharif 1999, p. 34). Most of the children are left alone when watching the television without any guidance from an elder. This can create a misconception in the children minds where they think that people are characterized as either ‘good’ or ‘bad’, girls are shown as decorative and sexy while boys are future as rugged and tough (Sharif 1999). Other than that, violence are said to be depicted on television where most of the shows aired are graphic scenes of violence (Sharif 1999). In the UK Times Use Survey (2000), it shows that males spent a lot of time, either during the weekday or weekend, watching television, video and radio. This proves that why most of the criminals in the world are male. Some may think that violence is the fastest way to solve problems (Sharif 1999). If this problem is not taken seriously, our future children will live in a rotten world.

The worse problem is the health of the children which prolonged periods of watching television shows that children are not physically active (Sharif 1999). They do not have time to indulge in sports or school activity as they like being in front of the television. They do not see this as a time-wasting activity even though it takes away the time for them to study (Rutherford 2002). Reports about television mainly focus on the detrimental effects that make the health problem aggravate (Leigh 2001). Surprisingly, most families nowadays eat their meals in front of the television and because of its invasive nature; communication is hardly to occur (Rutherford 2002). “It is a sedentary activity and, when indulged in with snacks, can cause obesity and related diseases” (Rutherford 2002, p. 14).

In a nutshell, it is important for the children to have less exposure on the television as it affects the development of the children thinking process. Other than that, it creates bad behaviour in the children as they can easily imitate a character they like from the television. In addition, extensive viewing can also cause health problem as children are doing less physical activity. Therefore, television does bring more harm than good if it is watch for a long period of time.

Aussie news 7 : theme : health : Industry study shows brain tumour link to heavy mobile phone usage

A LONG-awaited international study of the health risks of mobile phones has linked extended mobile phone use to an increased risk of developing brain tumours.

The 10-year Interphone study, the world's biggest study of the health effects of mobile phones, found while there was no increased risk of cancer overall, those in the top 10 per cent of phone use are up to 40 per cent more likely to develop glioma, a common type of brain cancer.

Just 30 minutes of mobile talk time daily was enough to put participants into the top 10 per cent category in the study, carried out in 13 countries, including Australia, and involving more than 5000 brain cancer patients worldwide.

The International Agency for Research on Cancer, which conducted the study and has repeatedly delayed its publication, summarised the findings by saying there were "suggestions of an increased risk of glioma, and much less so meningioma, in the highest decile (10 per cent) of cumulative call time, in subjects who reported phone use on the same side of the head as their tumour".

It added "biases and errors limit the strength of the conclusions that can be drawn . . . and prevent a causal interpretation".

But the finding - reported by British newspapers yesterday ahead of its official scheduled release this week - has nevertheless ignited controversy among cancer experts, neurologists and other scientists.

Australian neurosurgeons Charlie Teo and Vini Khurana said last night the findings were a concern. "Despite the study's methodological limitations that biased it towards finding nothing, the heaviest users were found to be at significantly higher risk of glioma, which is consistent with our message," Drs Teo and Khurana told The Australian.

"This (finding) does concern us, but it's also an impetus to do two things: the mobile phone industry has to supply the actual hours logged, and we need to track brain tumour incidence in Australia."

Other experts sought to reassure the public over the findings. IARC director Christopher Wild said an increased risk of brain cancer was "not established from the data from Interphone".

"However, observations at the highest level of cumulative call time and the changing patterns of mobile phone use since the period studied by Interphone, particularly in young people, mean that further investigation of mobile phone use and brain cancer risk is merited," Dr Wild said.

Although modern mobile phones have greatly reduced emissions the authors said phone use now was "much more prevalent and it is not unusual for young people to use mobile phones for an hour or more a day".

Industry group the Australian Mobile Telecommunications Association also emphasised the study found no increased risk overall, and its conclusion was "in line with the weight of scientific opinion, which has found no substantiated scientific evidence of any adverse health effects".

The study's authors said there was "reasonable doubt" about the credibility of some patients' estimates of their phone use, which in 38 cases amounted to over five hours per day, and 12 hours or more per day in 10 cases. People with cancer were much more likely to report these very high usage rates than other study participants without cancer who were included as controls.

my comments :
it seems like mobile phone and cigarette have something in common : both contribute to health problems but we can't stop ourselves to prevent the usage of mobile compared to ciggar....
nowadays, not only adults use them kids too...
they are exposed with this kind of technology at an early age and what i'm concern is that how can we overcome cancer problem if we encourage the usage.....tech and human can't be sepearted....
i use my phone mainly for messaging and as a replacement of my mp3....and i started using it at the age of 18, compared to my younger brothers they had it early than me....why??

we can't stop the usage but we can't minimize the time we had with it....~_~

I wanna CHANGE.....

Change

I won’t be bent and I won’t be dragged along

I want to stay honest to how I feel now

Change

No matter how many times I’m reborn

I will embrace my sadness

As I run

I was sad when you betrayed me

But you couldn’t catch me, I’m right here

It’s not enough and there’s no end to it

Try to distort me even more

This is such a crazy world,

Sometimes it makes me lose sight of who I am

Do you want to leave the traditional ways?

Just don’t make that decision for me

I’m going down my own path

Just standing around here, waiting

Never try to start anything

Change

I won’t be bent and I won’t be dragged along

I want to stay honest to how I feel now

I won’t let you have your way

Change

No matter how many times I’m reborn

I will embrace my sadness

As I run

Never again will I

return to your side

I’m going to do things the way I want to

I WANNA CHANGE

parallel hearts........~_~

We've seen

The power to change the future

In our dreams

I can hear your cries within the noise

I laughed at it and it only dispose all of my weaknesses

Only you can know where you were heading

While chasing a different skies

We wished for the courage to face the future

You kept on smiling

While being lost in the past

Until you can return to the real present

The first time I want to know about you

I was scared at how far the distance between our hearts

Just by understanding any misunderstoods

We can start forward

I wanted to hold your tears and pains

But if I run I become restless as I run further

How far do I have to keep on running... ...

I can hear your songs within the noise

and I started to see my disappearing self

Please give me the strength to change the future

Where I'm supposed to walk alone

I can fly very high

Just because of your smile

We wished for the courage to link our hearts

To keep on smiling with you

While being lost in love

Until I can return to the real me

#draft 3 arguementative essay : should the sale of junk food......

The word ‘junk food’ is mainly used to describe any food that contains low nutritional value which includes take away foods, pre-packaged meals, and sugary snack food (Tran 2005). Statistics shows that, for the past 30 years, the nutritional value of food taken by the Australian children had fall gradually (Tran 2005). Now, even worse more than 50% of Australian children prefer to buy junk foods for their lunch (Tran 2005). ‘It is believe that the habit of eating junk foods will bring bad effects in the children’s’ behaviour’ (Smith 2005, p.3). They blame a lot of people including the school canteen. Thus, the sale of junk food in school canteen should be banned as junk food is unhealthy, create a bad eating habit and litter problems.

Junk food is said to be unhealthy as it contains low nutritional value which comes from the chemical additives that helps to enhance the flavour and colour (Smith 2005). These additives can cause behavioural problems especially in children (Smith 2005). The problem is made worse by the fact that most young people do not get enough physical activity (Tran 2005). This can lead to an increase in childhood obesity (Smith 2005). According to The Food Show (2005), Caputo said that, research had shown that by reducing the unhealthy food in the children diets can improve their behaviour. Other than that, by offering foods high in fat and sugar, school canteens are actually contributing to the problem of youth weight gain (Tran 2005). Therefore, avoiding the children from buying junk foods by banning the sales of it is the best way for the children to stop.

Moreover, junk food creates bad habits in the children’s lifestyle if it is taken continuously. Other than that, consuming junk food in an excess might stop the children from taking healthy meal either at school or home. Based on the Australian Nutrition Journal in 2004, the percentage of children eating fat and sugar more than the recommended intake in 2003 is bigger than the percentage intake for fresh fruit and vegetables in the same year. If this continues to happen, our children might be suffering from a lot of health problems. Thus, it is important for them to understand that they have to make the right choice of eating.

Lastly, fast food packaging is the major contributor to litter problems (Smith 2005). In The Food Show (2005), Green noted that, when junk foods were sold at the canteen the school had a major problem with litter – there were cans, crisp packets, cantons and plastics container everywhere. Furthermore, it increases the cleaning costs and gives bad image of our communities (Smith 2005). Therefore, banning the sales of junk foods would really help preventing the children from buying them.

In a nut shell, it is important for the children to eat a healthy meal in their daily life. In The Food Show (2005), Green noticed that, there are improvements in the students’ behaviour in class when the sales of junk food are removed from the school canteen. The most important is that the eating habits of the children will change. Other than that, the litter problems too can be resolve. Therefore, the sale of junk food in school canteens should be banned.

AusSie News 6 : Bigger quake to come, says expert

Seismologist David Love from PIRSA says most of our quakes don't follow faultlines, so there's no point reaching for a map.

A SEISMIC expert says Friday night's earthquake is a portent of things to come and that another "1954-style earthquake" is certain to hit the city.

"The truth of the matter is that the earthquakes occur all over the place, regardless of where the faultlines ," he said.

"It's somewhat different from California, where you can see most of the earthquakes happen on major faultlines that they know are moving."

The South Australian earthquakes are "spread out far and wide", though there are "more on the hills than on the flats".

Dr Love said it was quite common for people to be able to hear and see an earthquake without feeling it. He said the earthquake compression waves were equivalent to sound waves. As the waves come up through the ground it is possible to hear low-frequency sound waves.

"It does sound like a rumbling as it comes and goes," he said.

"When you are closer it tends to be more a big boom sound, but what people actually hear is a probably a little subjective and probably depends on where they are and what they are doing."

People were jolted from their sleep when a magnitude 3.8 quake - the state's strongest in more than 20 years - struck just south of Mt Barker at 11.27pm on Friday. Its shockwaves were felt across the state.

It was the largest of four tremors that had struck close to Adelaide in the past 19 days, with three recorded near Kuitpo, including a 1.9 magnitude tremor on April 2.

Australian Seismological Centre director Kevin McCue said it was only "a matter of time" before SA experienced a repeat of the 5.5 magnitude quake of 1954 that caused $70 million damage across Adelaide.

"I think we probably haven't seen the worst yet, but the probability would be pretty small that it will happen in our lifetime," he said.

"But in places like Adelaide, very few buildings are designed to resist earthquakes.

"A 1954-style earthquake will happen at some stage in the future and Adelaide will be damaged. It's just a matter of time."

Mr McCue said SA experienced at least one magnitude 3.8 quake a year, and Adelaide faced the greatest risk of earthquake damage out of any major capital city due to its large number of volatile fault lines.
He said Friday's quake was a call to communities and authorities to be better prepared in the event of a more destructive tremor.

"This is the fourth relatively small earthquake in just a few weeks, which is unusual," he said.

"This earthquake was possibly up to a magnitude of even four and it's only the depth (of the quake) that saved you from damage.

"I think at the moment there is a high probability of an earthquake in this same area of the Adelaide metropolitan area.

"I think people like the state emergency services should be looking at their procedures again and what they need to be doing to respond to an earthquake.

"People who manage schools and hospitals ought to also be making sure they are not vulnerable."

However Mr Love said people should not be alarmed that Friday's seismic activity indicated something more sinister to come.

"We've got no way of predicting them and there hasn't been a particularly large number and nothing that should stand out," Mr Love said.

"There's always the chance of something bigger, but the probability of that really is quite low.

"If there are a lot of these in the next couple of months some people might get upset, but this is close enough to normal, except we don't usually have then down here, we usually see them up in the Flinders."

Mr Love said Friday's seismic activity was about 20km underground.

Police and emergency services were inundated with emergency calls from across the state as people near the epicentre reported the sound of an "explosion".

More than 500 calls were logged within hours of the quake hitting, with shockwaves felt up to 100km away and as far as Kangaroo Island, but by the light of day SES had reported no structural damage.

The AdelaideNow website was flooded with more than 1600 comments from people recounting their experiences.

Sharon Butler, 37, husband Scott, 42, and their three young children - Holly, 9, Thomas, 6, and Bethany, 5 - were asleep in their Wistow home when the quake struck.

"It sounded like a roar of thunder then there was a muffled bang and the house shook," Mrs Butler said. "I Googled it today and realised it was an earthquake; it was pretty exciting."

Mt Barker Natural Food Barn worker Patrick Buckley, 59, said he arrived at work yesterday to find stock on his shelves jumbled up and out of place, but hadn't been surprised by the quake.

"I've known that there was going to be some sort of activity so I've adjusted to it. Nostradamus predicted it," he said.

SA is among the state most susceptible to earthquakes and Adelaide, the Mt Lofty Ranges, the Flinders Ranges, the Eyre Peninsula and Mt Gambier are at most risk.

It is believed that normal tectonic-plate movement and pressure caused the quake.

Mr McCue said the Australian tectonic plate was moving north at 7cm a year, nudging with adjoining Eurasian and Pacific plates and increasing stress on this continent.

Now, even worse more than 50% of Australian children prefer to buy junk foods for their lunch (Tran 2005, p.6). It is believe that the habit of eating junk foods will bring bad effects in the children’s’ behaviour (Smith 2005, p.3). They blame a lot of people including the school canteen. Thus, the sale of junk food in school canteen should be banned as junk food is unhealthy, create a bad eating habit and litter problems.

Junk food is said to be unhealthy as it contains low nutritional value which comes from the chemical additives that helps to enhance the flavour and colour (Smith 2005, p.3). These additives can cause behavioural problems especially in children (Smith 2005, p.3). The problem is made worse by the fact that most young people do not get enough physical activity (Tran 2005, p.6). This can lead to an increase in childhood obesity (Smith 2005, p.3). According to The Food Show (2005), Caputo said that, research had shown that by reducing the unhealthy food in the children diets can improve their behaviour. Other than that, by offering foods high in fat and sugar, school canteens are actually contributing to the problem of youth weight gain (Tran 2005, p.6). Therefore, avoiding the children from buying junk foods by banning the sales of it is the best way for the children to stop.

Moreover, junk food creates bad habit in the children’s lifestyle if it is taken continuously.

Fast food packaging is the major contributor to litter problems (Smith 2005, p.3). In The Food Show (2005), Green noted that, when junk foods were sold at the canteen the school had a major problem with litter – there were cans, crisp packets, cantons and plastics container everywhere. Furthermore, it increases the cleaning costs and gives bad image of our communities (Smith 2005, p.3).
